Subverting Tradition: From "Reading and Writing Nightmare" to "Hearing First"  

We firmly believe that the essence of language learning is communication. Therefore, we have subverted the traditional "reading and writing bundling" model and strictly followed the scientific path of "listening and speaking first, literacy later". At the beginner level, we do not pursue the big and complete, do not force reading and writing, but do our best to create a relaxed and immersive language environment for children to protect their most valuable learning interests. We believe that when the channel of listening and speaking is completely opened, reading and writing will naturally become a natural result. 

Back to the essence: from "textbook center" to "story is king" 

Children do not resist Chinese, but resist boring content. Our classroom does not have blunt words and sentences, but instead is a treasure trove of vivid cultural stories. From idiom allusions to classical storytelling, from "Journey to the West" to the artistic conception of ancient poems, we let children absorb language nutrients "painlessly" in wonderful stories, cultivate a higher sense of language, and stimulate their deep desire to express themselves. We hope that Chinese is no longer a "subject", but a fun "adventure". 

Return to empathy: from "preaching and teaching" to "spiritual bridge"  

Almost all of the teachers in Tongle are from North America, and they not only have a solid foundation in Chinese language, but also have a deeper understanding of the growth psychology of overseas Chinese children, cultural background conflicts, and the educational rhythm of North American families. They are not only imparters of knowledge, but also partners who can build trust and empathize with children. Our classroom is not only a Chinese class, but also a classroom of encouragement, guidance and understanding. 

Return to the family: from "educational burden" to "parent-child time"  

We understand the busyness and difficulty of overseas families. Therefore, we offer a flexible mode of combining live streaming and recording, and encourage parents to listen. Our assignments are designed to be refined rather than stacked, designed to reinforce what is learned in the classroom rather than become a burden to the family. We hope that Chinese learning can become a wonderful parent-child time, allowing parents to change from "after-school teaching assistants" to "relaxed participants".

文以载道:“悟”
        自明吾心即是“悟”。         历代已经有很多大德的精辟论述,我们简要摘录以图共学:         沩山灵佑禅师曰:“今人一念顿了自心,名之为悟。”         马祖道一禅师云:“不了时是迷,了时是悟。”         圭峰宗密把悟和禅结合起来:“一切众生本觉真性,亦名佛性,亦名心地,悟之名慧,修之名定,定慧通称禅那。”         明朝禅宗大德憨山大师:“若一念妄想顿歇,彻见自心,本来圆满,光明广大,清净本然,了无一物,名之曰悟。”         万鹿园结合儒家格物修持谈悟:“圣贤功夫,莫先格物,格物者,格吾心之物也,扫荡一切,独观吾心,格之又格,愈研愈精。到得顿悟本来则彻底明净,不为一切情景所转,如镜照形,镜无留形。”         岭南明儒卢冠岩先生对悟作了精辟的论述:“悟非意见想象,此心生机也。生机发动,则有自然之觉,唯澄心凝虑,生机潜通,是自然有的。……然后无思无不通。”         神秀和慧能的两首诗分别描述了悟前渐修和悟后的状态:         渐修:“身是菩提树,心如明镜台,时时勤拂拭,勿使惹尘埃。”         悟后:“菩提本无树,明镜亦非台,佛性本清静,何处惹尘埃。”         最后,想说一下悟是一种真实状态的体证,而非语言的论述。禅宗之前的大德僧肇在《肇论疏》中云:“见解名悟,闻解名信。信解非真,悟发信谢,理数自然,如果熟自零。”
